A computer, yours
The project folder stays where it is — BrickNote reads it in place, it does not move it and keeps no copy elsewhere. macOS on Apple Silicon as well as Intel; the minimum system version is stated with the download.

A model for AI drafting
Get a key from Mistral, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or Anthropic, or sign in to OpenRouter with no key, then add it in BrickNote settings. Ollama also supports a local model. With a remote provider, the excerpts needed for your questions are sent to it and any usage charges are yours. Need help with this step? Write to us.
Without a key the application still opens your folder, indexes it and prepares the first version of the worksheets. It is the writing that waits for a model.

Your Microsoft 365 mailbox, if you want it
Optional. Connected, it files the project’s messages into its folder and lets reminders and minutes leave from your own address — on your click, never on a timer.
What does using AI require of me?
BrickNote helps you read project documents and prepare working documents. It does not replace your professional judgement or technical safety checks. Review proposals before accepting them and minutes before issuing them.
Your firm needs to understand the capabilities and limitations of the AI tools it uses — in the European Union, the AI Act asks that much — and meet its personal-data obligations. With a remote model, the required excerpts or recordings are sent to your chosen provider. Applicable obligations depend on your use: this introduction is not a statement of compliance.

These are historical measurements on limited test datasets, not a guarantee for your project or a ranking of current models.

French site vocabulary escapes the transcription
18 July 2026 test, inside the platform since retired: Azure Speech batch recovered around one expected term in three on f5-jargon, a synthetic-audio French construction-vocabulary test set. This service is not offered in BrickNote — transcription is whichever you choose. Keep the example, not the figure: check names, trades and references before issuing minutes.

Citations that did not hold
5 September 2026 test: Azure OpenAI gpt-5-mini produced around 130 citations on the LBC demonstration folder, a French project; repair removed two. A verified citation does not prove that the accompanying assertion is correct. Review the claims and their source documents.

And what does work
In the same 5 September 2026 test (Azure OpenAI gpt-5-mini, LBC demonstration folder), fifteen of sixteen questions received a sourced answer, with a 31-second median. The penalties question exceeded the processing budget; the application kept its fallback draft.
No proposal reaches the register and no message leaves without your validation. That is the tool’s principle, and it is also why the minutes stay yours: they carry your signature, not ours.
What the beta promises, and what it does not
- Free, without commitment, and with no payment method requested.
- No account to create: no email, no password with us.
- No BrickNote server: your documents, your index and your minutes stay on your computer. What leaves it, and nothing else: the excerpts sent to the model provider you choose; a meeting’s audio if you ask for its transcription; messages collected and sent if you connect Microsoft 365, or handed to your mail client otherwise; the update check; and usage measurement if you turn it on — it is off by default.
- Provided as is. Keep your current working method running alongside: a defect in the application must not put a set of minutes at risk.
- No guaranteed support. We read the feedback, without promising a response time.
- BrickNote is intended to become paid software. The end of the beta will be announced at least two months in advance, and an installed version does not stop working as a result.
Before you open a real project
The current desktop download opens on a French sample project, which you can explore without touching a real folder. An English sample and in-app tutorial are prepared for the next desktop release. The interactive show site already offers an English sample; published video tutorials still show the French project.
