Reference steps checked on 2026-09-15. Provider screens may change.
Follow these steps in BrickNote settings on your computer.
Worksheets and transcription. French provider; hosted in the European Union by default.
Exceptions exist depending on the feature. See the terms that apply to the processing BrickNote uses.
Before you start
- You will need the firm's email address, its billing details and a card authorised for this expense. Your bank may ask you to confirm.
- If a personal account is already signed in in the browser, check which organisation will carry the expense before enabling billing.
- The card is the manager's or the firm's. Do not advance personal money for a professional expense.
- The invoice carries the registered name, the address and, if the provider asks for it, the VAT number. BrickNote gives no tax advice.
- Your bank may ask for a confirmation on a phone. Keep it within reach.
- The console may be in English. Each step gives the real label, then its translation.
- If you cannot authorise the payment, pass this guide to the person who can: your progress is kept here.
The free « Experiment » tier
Mistral offers a free tier, limited in throughput. It is enough to try, with no guarantee that it will carry a whole meeting. You can start there and switch to pay-as-you-go later.
01 — Open the account
Create the account with the firm's email address, then choose or create a Workspace named « BrickNote ».
Workspace
You see the firm's name at the top of the console, and a « BrickNote » Workspace in the list.
- A personal account may already be signed in: check which organisation will carry the expense.
- One Workspace per application, not per site. The three coordinators of a firm share the spending limit at the provider; their registers stay separate on each machine.
From console.mistral.ai, the organisation and Workspace selector is at the top of the page.
02 — Enable billing
Open the billing section, enable pay-as-you-go, enter the firm's details and a card authorised for this expense.
Billing
The section shows a saved payment method and usage billed by the provider.
- The main path is pay-as-you-go: your account is billed for what it uses, BrickNote included.
- You can stay on the free tier to try — see the branch above.
From console.mistral.ai, the account administration, then « Billing ».
03 — Set the limit at Mistral
Set the monthly spending limit of the Workspace BrickNote will use, before the first billed call.
Limits
The Workspace shows a monthly limit in euros or dollars.
- When the limit is reached, Mistral refuses calls with a 429. That is the only real financial protection.
- Check as well that an organisation limit does not add itself to the Workspace one.
From console.mistral.ai, the account administration, then « Limits ».
04 — Create the API key
In the chosen Workspace, create an API key named « BrickNote » and copy it straight away.
API Keys
The key is shown once, in full. It will never be visible again.
- The key is shown only once. If it is lost, create another one and delete the previous one.
- One key per machine or per person where possible: a key can be removed without stopping the others.
From console.mistral.ai, « API Keys » in the left menu.
05 — Paste the key and run the test
Paste the key below, then run the test on the demonstration site.
BrickNote shows « Access verified · Mistral », then the worksheet before and after review.
- If someone else holds the key, have them type it on this machine, or pass it through the firm's password manager — never by email.
- If the key has been lost, go back to the key step and create another.
