How we protect your data

2. Data Collected

2.1 Locally Stored Data

The BrickNote application stores the following data only on your device :

  • Voice notes and transcriptions
  • Photos and annotations
  • Projects and reports
  • Application preferences

Your audio recordings and photos never leave your device. Voice transcription runs on your iPhone (iOS dictation).

2.2 Data Processed in the Cloud (subscribers and trial)

If you use AI report generation (Pro subscription or trial), the text transcript is securely sent to our service hosted in the European Union (Microsoft Azure, France) solely to generate the report. It is not used to train AI models and is not sold.

BrickNote works without an account: no email or password is required. Your subscription is identified by a pseudonymous identifier (RevenueCat).

2.3 Technical Data

To improve the service, we may collect anonymized technical data:

  • Device type and iOS version
  • Crash reports (anonymized)
  • Usage statistics (anonymized)

3. Processing Purposes

Your data is used to:

  • Provide application features
  • Improve the service
  • Provide technical support
  • Communicate with you (if you contact us)

4. Legal Basis

Processing of your data is based on:

  • Contract execution : service provision
  • Consent : for optional features
  • Legitimate interest : service improvement, security

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

Your data may be shared with:

  • Microsoft Azure : hosting and AI report generation (France / European Union region)
  • RevenueCat : subscription management (pseudonymous identifier, no content data)
  • PostHog : usage statistics and error reports (European Union hosting)
  • Apple : payment and distribution via the App Store

6. International Transfers

Some of our providers may be located outside the European Union. In this case, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (standard contractual clauses, adequacy).

7. Data Retention

  • Local data : retained on your device until deletion
  • Transcripts sent to AI : processed to generate the report, not retained by the AI service
  • Subscription data : retained for the duration of the subscription (pseudonymous identifier)
  • Technical data : 13 months maximum

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access : obtain a copy of your data
  • Right of rectification : correct your data
  • Right of erasure : delete your data
  • Right to portability : receive your data in structured format
  • Right to object : object to certain processing
  • Right to restriction : restrict processing of your data

9. Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data:

  • Data encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Data encryption at rest
  • Restricted data access
  • Regular security audits

10. Cookies

The bricknote.ai website uses only essential cookies. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

11. Minors

The BrickNote application is intended for construction professionals. It is not designed for use by minors under 16.

12. Modifications

We may modify this privacy policy. In case of substantial modification, we will notify you via the application.

If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can file a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.
