Is BrickNote really free?
The free tier is: no sign-up, local AI on iPhone, your data never leaves the phone. The Pro tier (€12.99/mo or €99.99/yr) adds cloud extraction (hosted in France) for long or complex transcripts.
Do I need to inform participants?
Yes — Article 226-1 of the French Penal Code requires it. BrickNote shows the announcement text before every recording and asks you to confirm participants have been informed. It takes seconds and keeps you covered.
Where is my data?
Free tier: on your phone, that's it. Pro tier: Azure OpenAI France Central (with West Europe failover). No transfers outside the EU. No Anthropic, no direct OpenAI, no Google.
Does the PDF have a signature?
Every PDF carries a SHA-256 content fingerprint and the disclosure 'no certified timestamp.' This proves a PDF matches a given meeting. For a legally-binding RFC3161 timestamp, talk to a notary — that's not what we do.
